My Old Swatches

I got my first Swatch at Macy's in either 1983 or 1984. It's the one on the right. This isn't the original band - that was yellow, blue and red. I liked the Egyptian pattern on the center one that I got about a year later. The battery cover broke on that after 5 years. The one on the left is from my class trip to Switzerland in 1987. They are cheaper over there although I'm sure by the time my mom paid interest on credit card bills it worked out to be the same or more! I have others too from the mid - late 90s. I even got my mom liking them. We need to get new batteries for our Swatches. I finally went to the Swatch store in NYC last year. Such nice stuff there - not in the budget though.

Very nice collection! I still have my "Sir Swatch" design from the 80s, but the band is decrepit and falling apart, as was usually the case with these watches. One of these days I'm going to order a new band and battery for it - or maybe just buy a vintage Swatch online in working condition. They're such an icon of the 80s.

Thank you. The band on the Egyptian one is pretty shabby looking too. It's good that you also still have your Swatch. Last time that I got a battery it was $10. I'm not sure how much a band is. Hope that you find a nice one online if you decide to look there.

Swatches.. HA! I had a white one. White band, white face, maaaaybe white or off white hands. It screwed me a couple of times by putting me off schedule by an hour. LOL!

Darrin - at first I didn't get this but now I do - that's funny and you really cheered me up today.
