My Lunchboxes

I got these 2 photos from ebay and another site since I no longer have the actual lunchboxes. I loved them both and do enjoy seeing collections of lunchboxes, many of them are so cool. The Tupperware one came with containers inside for a sandwich, snack and juice. We mostly brown bagged our lunches once we were in 7th grade. I don't even remember ever getting anything except maybe a drink from our high school cafeteria occasionally. In grade school Fridays were hot lunch days which my brother and I would sometimes get. The choices were limited - hot dogs and Ellios pizza. There was also milk, chips and those Carvel ice cream sandwiches - Flying Saucers?

Lara, I had an orange Flintstones lunchbox which I used in 5th grade. Previously I went home for lunch so didn't have a need. Was terribly excited to have that lunch box that year, like a good friend waiting for you during the lunch hour. My bro had a blue Snoopy one. In sixth grade, I browned bagged it as well. I would only get a drink or a bag of chips from the cafe too - always brought a sandwich from home. I must look for a pic that is similar to the one I had.

I'm happy that I brought back your lunchbox memories. It was great hearing about them. I would've loved to have had a Snoopy one. I'd love to see photos of one similar to yours. I have some photos of other stuff that I used to have saved on my computer too but will be looking for more. I saw a show once that had a guy with a lunchbox collection - he had so many of them.

These are really cute. I love the Tupperware one with the bright red color and separate containers.

I had a Snoopy lunchbox as well...I seem to remember a Dune Buggy one from the cartoon of the same name.

Pam - thanks. I always loved all our Tupperware stuff, esp. this item. I vaguely remember that Dune Bug cartoon. Snoopy certainly was a popular lunch box, my friend had one as well.

I remember what a big deal lunchboxes were back then. They were like status symbols. For a while boys and girls used them but I remember when I was a kid, girls seemed "too cool" to be bothered with them. I had a lot of cool ones. I had He-Man, Batman, Real Ghostbusters, and when I was really young I had the Smurfs. I too wasn't big on food from the school cafeteria. I never bought anything from the cafeteria unless it was a bagel or a drink. I usually brought my own food.

Man.. lunchboxes had waaaaay more character back in the day!! I'll never forget my 1977 STAR WARS lunchbox with Blue C3P0 and R2D2 Thermos!

Jay - Lunches from home were so much better than anything in the cafeterias anyway. Your lunchboxes do sound cool, wish that I had the Smurf one. My brother was into He-man so I'm sure he would've liked having that. Now that you mention it, there weren't that many girls in my class that had lunchboxes. I didn't think of it as mostly a boy thing.

Darrin - It was strange that our parents never did take us to see Star Wars when were kids and we could have seen it at our aunt's theater for free. We did see the other 2 there. My brother is majorly into that series even collecting pewter pieces now. I bet that he'd be jealous of the fact that you had this lunchbox.
