My parent's favourite movie is Doctor Zhivago. Their wedding song was the theme from this which is called Somewhere My Love aka Lara's Theme. They gave me the name from that character in this film. My grandma got the music box in the bottom photo on her trip to Germany for mom before I was even born. The piano one was given to me by my parents when I was very young. I've had it for as long as I can remember. It also is a jewelry box and has a little ballerina inside that twirls around when the music is playing but that broke a long time ago.
I actually used to not like my name. I'd get annoyed when people would say it wrong calling me Laura instead of Lara but I was usually too afraid to correct them but when I was in my mid 20's I did start correcting people who did this. Well, I did see my grade school principal about 12 years ago and she called me Laura only I was still too scared to tell Sister Donna that my name is Lara. That does seem rather ridiculous. I'm not sure why some people have trouble with my name - it's like Sara or Tara with an L.

I love a story behind a name! So you were named after a character in a movie.. makes me wonder..if anyone will ever name their children after characters in my books! :)
How have you been, darling Lara?? I haven't heard from you in a long while.
Very cool story. I used to have the same problem.. (kinda) People used to always call me Darrel instead of Darrin. I mean.. REALLY? Now that's just plain laziness. Usually it was teachers. And for the record.. I've always read your name as Lah-rah Ann. ;^)
Love this post. So beautiful that you were named after a character in Dr. Zhivago! And Lara's Theme was their wedding song? Simply beautiful.
Lara, a lovely name for a lovely girl! :)
Hi, C - It would be nice if that were to happen. Glad that you like my story. I've been alright, how about you? Sorry I haven't visited your blog lately. Unfortunately I've had less computer time since my brother doesn't like me using it and I've also been busy working on other projects but I hope that within the next couple of weeks that I'll have more time to devote to the blogworld. I miss reading your posts. Hope that you are doing well.
Darrin - This is so true. How can one mess up such simple names. It is pretty frustrating. And teachers should definitely make sure they get it right. Thanks for visiting my blog and for the correct pronunciation of my name.
Chelly - I'm pleased that you enjoyed this. I haven't seen my piano music box in many years - it's in one of my knick knack totes. It was fun getting it out and taking a photo of it for this post. It sucks having less space here than the old apartment so I can't keep alot of my items on shelves.
Mom gave me the sheet music from here wedding which I put in my scrapbook. One day I'll use it in a series of posts on scrapbook stuff. I appreciate the sweet compliment. I can't believe that I used to not like my name - now I'm glad that I have one that is different, although it has been very hard finding items with it on them over the years and within the past 10 nearly impossible.
Mycroft - thank you so much for reading and commenting on this post. I am glad that you liked it.
