Three Childhood Dresses

Christmas 1972

My cousin's Christening 1972

Mom saved these 3 dresses- I guess that they were favorites of hers and/or mine .She told me that the green one was from Aunt Helen. Maybe one or both of the others are handmade as she sometimes used to make my outfits. She had kept my school uniform that I got in first grade too but I threw that out in the late 1990s. I really regret doing this.

Made In the U.S.A. - 2

I wore a dress for the first time in many years last Sunday. Before I put it and the slip on I checked the tags to see where they were made which I've been doing with my clothes and also other things lately. I did the Snoopy dance of joy in my imagination when I noticed that both items are actually made in The U.S.A! I got this dress in Kohl's a few years ago and this is the first time that I've worn it. The slip I have had since the early 1990's, I think. I haven't worn that much. Maybe it's even older than that. A couple of days later I checked the tag on my pink tank top from Walmart after taking it off and once again I was in happy mode when I saw that this too was made here. I'm hoping to find more American made items around here. I looked at the back of a plate after washing it the other day and it is Corelle brand which I forgot is made in our country. We used to have that brand in the 70s and early 80s and got this set about 10 years ago.

A Handmade Dress

I did not even realize that my mom had kept a few of the dresses that she make me when I was a very little girl. I found them when looking through her keepsake totes last week. She used to have some of these things in a big cedar chest. I'm pretty sure the brand of it was Lane. I wish that she had not left it at the old apartment. She claimed that it would be too heavy for the movers. I am sure that they could have handled it. I remember looking in it only once when I was a kid but had forgotten exactly what was in it. I probably should have put this dress in a different place when taking a photo of it, the sheets kind of clash with the pattern of it. I look like I have a bowl haircut in that photo which I think is from 1972.
